See also: my first post with audio from Shaolin morning prayers
Here’s another recording I made in the Grand Buddha Hall at the Shaolin Temple.
Distinctly I remember: it was my first encounter with this phenomenon. I had only just arrived a few days before: we were told to come join the monks in the early morning, and stand alongside them as they perform these ancient sacred songs.
I had my iPhone in the pocket of my dagua (robe) – hence the hissing and crackling on the microphone here and there. Apologies for that, but hey, now you’re able to listen to something really rare. As far as I know, there are no other recordings available online. However, if I missed some of these, please let us know. Thanks.
